The bearings fail why. The Freelander 2 and Evoque rear differential most commonly fails because of premature wear on the internal pinion bearings. The factory fitted bearings are considered under size and can be over-tightened during production leading to looseness, metal degradation, causing a whining, humming or droning sound. Symptoms of failure are a whining humming noises, vibrations and fluid leaks.
Lack of routine fluid changes. Land Rover claimed the rear differential fluid was a seal for life component, meaning it wasn't on standard service schedules. Over time this will cause the fluid to breakdown, loses lubrication properties which then gets contaminated with metal shavings. The differential will dry out and over heat.
What we replace and why. New genuine OE upgraded heavy duty nose cone bearings, seals and collapsible spacers. For higher load capacity, increased durability and a quieter ride. We fully test the diffs before dispatching. They are boxed up the in heavy duty plastic boxes to keep them safe from damaged.
We do not surcharge like other companies, we never have done its all about trust, just contact us when the old unit is ready to collect and we will send our courier to collect it, just but the diff back in the plastic box it came in and tape it up.
